SoPiN is proud to announce the launch of a new community initiative to help fight hunger across Los Angeles County. While full project details will be shared soon, our immediate focus will be on providing free meals and refreshments to families and individuals facing food insecurity, and on partnering with food and beverage companies for donations of food, drink, and other essential resources to support this effort.
Hunger remains a serious and persistent issue throughout Los Angeles County. According to recent research, approximately one in four households — roughly 24–25% — still struggles with food insecurity, meaning they do not always have reliable access to enough food to live a healthy, active life. This rate remains significantly higher than the national average and affects hundreds of thousands of local families and individuals. (USC Dornsife)
The high cost of living, rising food prices, and ongoing economic pressures contribute to this crisis, especially for low-income households. In many communities, access to nutritious and culturally relevant food is limited, and many families are forced to make difficult choices between basic needs like housing, healthcare, and putting food on the table. SoPiN’s project aims to bring immediate relief to those in need while building stronger collaborations across the food supply chain. We are actively seeking donations from food and beverage companies — including perishable and non-perishable food items, drinks, and logistical support — to maximize our impact. Together, we can help ensure no one has to go hungry in our local communities.
